Who we are and what we do

LIFEbeat is a UK charity established in 2009 to provide transformational learning experiences for teenagers and adults based around the Creative Community Model created by PYE.

We develop the positive potential of young people in the context of vibrant, safe, week-long summer camps. These programmes are arts-based, inter-generational and multi-cultural; they foster self-knowledge, leadership and social change. Throughout the year, LIFEbeat offers ongoing support for young people through group mentoring and reunions, and the membership of a vibrant and safe community. A strong LIFEbeat Youth Council acts as a voice for teenagers centering around the issues that affect them in society today.

We stand for the value of creative practice in the fields of education and youth work, both as a means of building community in schools and other organisations, and as a way to directly increase young people's capacity and appetite for academic learning.

We spread the principles and practices of our work through experiential weekend trainings for adults. These open programmes are designed for youth workers, teachers, counsellors, and other professionals who want to experience our empowering approach to the design and delivery of effective programmes.

We work in partnership with schools and youth organisations to: co-host camps, train staff and build community, and create opportunities for the youth they serve.

We work with corporate partners to offer bespoke team-building workshops, volunteering and development opportunities for staff, and tailor-made events which bring their corporate social responsibility initiatives alive.
